During the Spring half-term, newcomers to The Activity Den tried out our flagship music project: Sound Hub. We are delighted that the event was fully booked giving lots of young people the opportunity to play an instrument. For some of the young people this was their first taste of playing the guitar or drums.
Our Sound Hub project and the taster session was led by professional music tutors, giving young people the opportunity to learn drums and guitars with all instruments and amps provided.
Some of our current Sound Hub members were also present to welcome the young people that came to give it a go.
Word of mouth, social media, and the local schools were great to help us to spread the word about our activities. Some of the young people even came from outside of our local area and we got a lot of great feedback from parents! Thanks to Stanley Area Action Partnership and the Fun and Food programme for the grant we received for this excellent event!
All of the children and young people that attended enjoyed themselves and participated in all of the activities we had on offer.
Sound Hub is an amazing opportunity for young people to learn something new and get involved in a group. They also have the opportunity throughout the year to play in front of an audience which builds up their performance skills. The group runs on Saturdays from 10am - 12pm for ages 10 - 19 years old.
We still have some space for new members, don't hesitate to pop down on Saturdays to have a chat with us and let your young person give it a try!
